Chapter 24

　　After the competition, news spread throughout the grade that I had been chosen as the cheerleading captain.
　　The rumors about me had always revolved around words like "fat pig" and "loser." My transformation had excited the entire school.
　　Even more thrilling to them was the fact that Zach, the untouchable man, had suddenly started pursuing me relentlessly.
　　Two months later, I had slimmed down to just over 110 pounds, looking like a completely different person compared to my former 180-pound self.
　　It was only then that my classmates realized: "Holy crap, Frostie is... actually gorgeous now?"
　　"Guess weight loss really is the ultimate makeover."
　　"No wonder Zach's so obsessed with her. He knows how to spot potential."
　　"I'm tempted to chase her myself!"
　　"Don't kid yourself. If even Zach's getting ignored, what chance do you have?"
　　While I was basking in class beauty's life was falling apart.
　　After receiving disciplinary action from the school, she wasn't selected as cheerleading captain. The people who once supported her began distancing themselves.
　　Some even came to me to apologize.
　　Zach's obvious disdain for her only made things worse.
　　If the punishment hadn't bothered her much, Zach's attitude certainly did. She no longer dared to cause trouble for me.
　　After all, the his family's influence in the school was undeniable.
　　One morning, Zach passed by our classroom.
　　He placed breakfast on my desk and reached to pat my head, "Don't just focus on losing weight; you need to eat breakfast."
　　I dodged his hand. "Thanks, but I've already eaten."
　　"Why are you being so polite with me?" Zach said.
　　Lately, he'd grown quite comfortable acting overly familiar with me.
　　I wrinkled my nose, suppressing my discomfort, and asked, "Zach, can I ask you something?"
　　He leaned against the window, his eyes fixed intently on me, as if mesmerized. "What is it?"
　　I hesitated for a moment before lowering my voice. "Do you know where Dr. Midnight went? I haven't seen him around lately."
