I had no family left in the post-apocalyptic world, and I wasn't afraid of anything.
"Take me with you. I'll take responsibility for my own safety."
The system wavered for a long time before finally succumbing to my relentless persuasion. "Alright."
I cheered, but then thought of Frederick and felt a pang of reluctance. I decided to go and say goodbye to him.
He was at the training base, now a formidable instructor whose very presence exuded an intimidating aura.
"Captain!" I hopped over to him.
I wasn't sure if it was just my illusion, but his icy expression seemed to soften for a moment.
I explained my intentions. "I'm going on a long journey. It might be a while before I return. I'm leaving the paradise in your hands while I'm gone."
He frowned, looking like he wanted to ask something, but ultimately said nothing.
To be honest, I felt a bit reluctant to leave Frederick behind.
Back in my administrator's suite, I told the system, "I'm ready. Let's go."
"Alright," it replied, starting the countdown. "Three, two—"
As my mind went blank and I felt my soul tearing apart, the space around me twisted violently, and blinding white light filled my vision.
In my daze, I thought I saw the door to my suite being thrown open.
A figure in a black leather jacket burst in, his eyes red with fury, shouting, "Mia!"
"Host, this is bad!"
The last thing I heard was two voices nearly overlapping each other.
