I closed my eyes briefly and said to Frederick, "Drive."
The car roared back to life, and Billy hurriedly shot a glance at Minna.
"Mia, we were just out of our minds back then. You're so kind—you wouldn't leave us behind, right? Let's talk about everything after we get in the car."
"Yes, Mia, I'm your own flesh and blood. How could you do this to me?"
Seeing the zombies drawing closer, they both grew desperate.
I repeated, "Drive."
Minna could no longer keep up the act. She pointed her finger at me and screamed:
"Mia, what are you so smug about? Just because you've latched onto some powerful ability user? Let me tell you, you're nothing but trash! Does this man even know how filthy you are?"
She sneered at Frederick, her tone full of schadenfreude. "Do you know this woman was sold to a base leader for three loaves of bread? Who knows how many—"
Before she could finish, the car accelerated sharply, driving straight at her.
Minna's face turned ashen. If Billy hadn't reacted quickly and pulled her out of the way, she would've been thrown into the air.
"Mia, you'll die a horrible death!"
As the car sped away, her curses gradually faded into the distance.
I took a sip of water in silence, my face pale.
Frederick glanced at me, rare concern showing in his eyes. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
He sighed. "Even back in high school, I thought something wasn't right. Your parents would take turns bringing meals to your sister but often forgot about you. You did most of her homework, and even then, she somehow managed to get people to isolate and bully you at school."
I slowly lifted my head. "What?"
"I guess you didn't know. The reason you were bullied was because your sister was stirring things up behind the scenes."
