"Ding! Congratulations, Host, on completing the task. Rewards have been distributed!"
Looking back, I saw that all the guest rooms on the second floor were now unlocked. Combined with those on the first floor, the hotel now had twenty single rooms available.
I headed toward the cafeteria.
Before I reached it, I ran into the middle-aged couple. They looked at me with gratitude.
"Mia, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, we'd have ended up as zombie food. And to think we can afford such delicious meals now!"
"You're so kind, helping everyone like this. Thank you."
The others also hurriedly thanked me.
"The cafeteria has opened new windows!"
A surprised shout interrupted their thanks, and everyone rushed into the cafeteria. Indeed, ten new dishes were added, and the self-serve beverage machine now offered ten more drinks.
Even more surprising, a new fruit machine had appeared, with shiny, ripe apples glistening enticingly.
"The boss is amazing!"
"So many delicious foods! I never thought I'd eat hot meals in my lifetime again!"
I smiled as I watched the excited people, while behind me, Alaster also gazed at me thoughtfully.
...
"Ding! New task issued: Please recruit hundred guests; Task reward: Unlock all rooms in the hotel, all dishes in the cafeteria, all drinks in the beverage machines, ten types of fruits, and unlock the dining building with all its dishes."
The rewards were very generous and tempting, but the task was just as difficult.
In the third year of the apocalypse, almost everyone still alive was holed up in bases. They would usually go out organized to scavenge supplies and fight zombies, and those with no combat abilities couldn't leave the bases.
The area around where I was located was wide open, with hardly anyone passing by.
It seemed that the previous tasks were small fry, and now the real deal was starting.
I rested my chin on my hand, thinking about how to attract customers.
Frederick's tall, upright figure brushed past me.
"Hey," I called out to him, as a plan began forming in my mind.
