Cindy held her card and asked me, "How many points does it take to stay here?"
The rules of the system had already been explained clearly by the system, so I told her:
"10 points per day, utilities included, but food costs extra."
"Utilities?"
Cindy exclaimed, her eyes darting around the brightly lit surroundings.
In the apocalypse, water was a luxury, and electricity even more so. A Level 3 crystal could only provide power for about ten minutes.
"That's right," I replied with a smile.
Cindy hesitated for a moment before saying, "Then... I'll stay for five days."
"Alright, deducting 50 points," I said as I had her swipe her card. Her points decreased to 50, and her room number appeared on the screen.
"Let me explain the rules to you before you check in," I said, handing back her card. "Wasting free resources like water and electricity is forbidden. Each card can only grant access to one room, and you're not allowed to enter others' rooms, let alone the administrator's suite. And most importantly, you must never harbor malicious intent toward the administrator. Violators will face punishment. Understood?"
Cindy clutched her card nervously and nodded solemnly.
Her weak abilities had barely allowed her to survive the past three years, and she was exhausted.
If this paradise really was that good, of course, she'd do everything to stay. She couldn't afford to mess things up.
She feared the uncertain future of survival, with no guarantee of tomorrow.
After explaining the rules, I sent Cindy off to her room.
"Ding! Congratulations, Host, for completing the task. Your rewards have been distributed."
As soon as she left, the system's voice rang out.
I asked the system. "Can you make a sign at the front desk for the rules? It's too tedious to explain them every time someone checks in."
"Okay."
A digital sign appeared near the front desk, displaying the rules of Paradise Resort:
"This paradise shields against all disasters, including zombies. Water and electricity are free, but other resources require points. Points can be exchanged for crystals.
Rules: 1. Malicious intent toward the administrator is prohibited; 2.Wasting resources is forbidden; 3.One card per person; points cannot be transferred; 4. The administrator has absolute authority. Violators will face severe consequences."
