Chapter 12

　　Seeing my pale face, Amily stepped forward to smooth things over. "Kart, you're misunderstanding Mrs. Ashwood. She didn't bully your mom."
　　"Don't lie to me. I saw everything," Kart said angrily. "Dad is in the hospital, and mom is borrowing money everywhere, yet she, who clearly has money, refuses to contribute!"
　　More and more employees gathered around, and the situation had reached a point where it could no longer be controlled.
　　I took a deep breath.
　　If this matter isn't properly resolved today, my reputation will also be ruined.
　　Everyone was waiting for me to speak.
　　I sneered. "Do you know why I refused to give money?"
　　Kart looked at me coldly.
　　"When I was in my confinement, no one took care of me. Your drunken father was out drinking with others, and when he returned, he expected me to look after him instead."
　　"When you turned one month old, he took the money our relatives gave you and went gambling; when you were three, burning with fever, it was I who carried you through the rain to the hospital, while he lay at home, fast asleep!"
　　With each word I spoke, Kart's face turned paler.
　　I then looked at Karen, pointing at her with an expressionless face:
　　"At that time, your father was poor, while my family was well-off. The car and house were both bought by my parents. If your father had treated me well, all of this would have been his. But when you were five, he ran off with the maid, who is now your mom!"
　　Kart looked shocked. "You never told me any of this."
　　"How could I tell you? You were still so young." I took over his words, "You always complain about how neglectful I've been, but I had just divorced and was still raising you. If it weren't for my tireless work from dawn till dusk, would you have the comfortable life you enjoy now?"
　　Seeing my sorrowful expression, Amily, holding my hand with concern, spoke on my behalf:
　　"Kart, you really misunderstand Mrs. Ashwood. She often collapses from exhaustion at work, and I've seen everything she has done for you over the years."
　　Kart remained silent.
　　But Karen became anxious. "Don't listen to her, she's lying to you..."
　　Kart turned to look at her. "Did you seduce my dad back then?"
