The university campus is indeed beautiful.
My roommates are all very nice too.
The best part is that I only have more free times!
I can sleep in most of the time.
My major courses are few and far between.
So, most of my free time is spent visiting Cyrus at the adjacent college.
Cyrus's attitude towards me remains indifferent.
But it doesn't matter; after half a semester of effort,
I've managed to ingratiate myself with his classmates and friends.
So when Cyrus formed a team for a project, he asked me to help him—
no, to bring breakfast for his team.
He said to me with a smile:
"Since you get along so well with my friends, you wouldn't mind taking on this task, would you?"
He was smiling,
but I felt a chill run down my spine.
In the end, I still nodded in agreement.
So,
my lazy mornings were over.
One day while delivering breakfast,
a few members of the team asked me if I liked Cyrus.
I thought about it seriously then.
Cyrus is good-looking, and I want to be kind to him.
I've been following him since we were young, it's become a habit.
So, for all these years,
I must like him.
And thus, Cyrus's team project lasted for three years.
As a diligent courier, I faithfully delivered breakfast every day for three years.
I deserve a certificate of commendation.
After a team gathering, a few people got drunk.
I went downstairs to buy them some mineral water.
When I returned, I heard Mike ask Cyrus
if he liked me.
Without hesitation, Cyrus said he didn't.
I lowered my gaze and gripped the bottle tightly.
Mike, having gotten his answer, then said,
he didn't believe it.
"Why keep her around if you don't like her?"
Then, I heard a laugh.
Looking up, I saw Cyrus with a carefree expression: "Free and foolish labor is wasted if not used."
...
Mike seemed angry; he stood up abruptly as if to say something.
But in the next moment, he saw me in the corner.
"Abby."
Everyone's eyes turned to me.
Everyone seemed awkward.
But I didn't want them to feel embarrassed for me.
So, I walked over, placed the water on the table, and forced a smile.
"Mike, what are you guys talking about so excitedly?"
Out of the corner of my eye, I looked at Cyrus.
Unlike everyone else, Cyrus's expression remained unchanged.
He just sat there,
without any hint of guilt or embarrassment.
...
My head started to ache.
I pinched the soft flesh of my palm secretly.
It's okay.
This has been going on for years.
I should be used to it by now.
Afterwards, I continued to interact with them as usual.
At first, some members of the team observed my mood discreetly,
but after a while and seeing no change,
they returned to their normal way of interacting.
The team atmosphere is great.
The people are wonderful.
So...
there's nothing wrong with being treated like free labor!
Not only do I make many friends,
but I also learn a lot.
