At that moment, a nurse walked in and, seeing her condition, immediately began emergency procedures.
Her water had broken, and as Mr. and Mrs. Harrison arrived, they rushed her to the delivery room.
Lying on the bed, Aria cried, "Dad, Mom, I think Nathan had a car accident. Please go check on him!"
“Car accident? Aria, don't worry. Nathan is fine. He's on his way. Just focus on delivering the baby,” Mrs. Harrison reassured her.
But how could Aria not worry? She tried to get up, wanting to see if Nathan was really alright.
“Ma'am, you can't move! Your water has broken!” The nurse pressed her back down.
“But my husband was in an accident!” Aria wailed.
Amidst the confusion, Nathan suddenly appeared. His face was pale, but he forced a smile, gripping Aria's hand tightly. “Sweetheart, I wasn’t in an accident. I’m right here, okay?”
Seeing him, Aria relaxed, tears blurring her vision. “You scared me to death. I thought you were in a car crash.”
“I’m fine. Now go inside and deliver our baby. I’ll be right here waiting for you,” Nathan said softly, kissing her lips gently.
“Okay, you have to wait for me,” Aria said, pressing her lips together.
“Yes, I’ll be here!”
Only then did the nurse push her into the delivery room.
After the door to the delivery room closed, the elders turned to Nathan. “What happened? Why did Aria say you were in a car accident?”
Nathan tried to shake his head, but his vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground.
After giving birth, Aria struggled to keep her eyes open, wanting to see Nathan. She had used so much energy during labor that she nearly passed out from exhaustion. As she was being wheeled out of the delivery room, she finally succumbed to sleep.
When she woke up, the smell of antiseptic filled her nose. She immediately looked around for Nathan but didn’t see him.
“Mom, where’s Nathan?” Aria asked, trying to sit up.
Mrs. Harrison and Mrs. Lawson walked over.
“He did have a little accident on the way, but he’s fine. He’s sleeping in the next room,” Lawson’s mother explained.
“Is he really okay?” Aria’s heart sank at the thought.
She never expected this to happen again. She wanted to get out of bed to see Nathan, but her body ached.
“Don’t move too much. He’s fine. Look at your son,” Mrs. Harrison said, placing the baby in Aria’s arms.
Aria suddenly remembered that she had given birth to a son. Holding the soft, tiny baby in her arms, she couldn’t believe she had really become a mother.
“I still want to see…” Aria began, but before she could finish, Nathan walked in with his head wrapped in bandages.
“I’m fine, sweetheart. Don’t worry,” he said, sitting by her bed. He looked at their son with a gentle expression. “You did a great job, giving me a healthy baby boy.”
Aria burst into tears, her emotions overwhelming her.
Their son, sensing his mother’s distress, began to cry as well. Aria, not knowing how to calm him, looked helplessly at their parents. Mrs. Lawson took the baby and soothed him until he stopped crying. She and Mrs. Harrison then left the room with the baby, giving the couple some privacy.
“I was so scared. Did Jason hit you?” Aria asked, clutching Nathan tightly, relieved to feel his warmth.
Nathan nodded slightly. “But don’t worry. He’s been arrested and won’t be a threat to us anymore.”
