"Darling!" Aria collapsed against Nathan, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Shh, it’s okay," Nathan murmured, kissing the top of her head. He then looked up at Jason, his eyes cold and piercing.
"Aria used to like me. Who are you, and why do you keep getting in my way?" Jason spat, glaring at Nathan.
Nathan tightened his hold on Aria. "My wife might have been blind before, but she isn’t anymore," he said, feeling Aria trembling against him.
He felt a deep ache in his heart. Usually, his wife was carefree and never seemed to have a vulnerable side like this.
Jason’s eyes burned with hatred. "You’d better back off, or I won’t be so polite!"
Nathan smirked, his tone mocking. "You think running me over will work this time?"
"You were eavesdropping?" Jason snarled.
Nathan's expression turned icy. "Whatever happened in the past, I'll make sure you pay for it." With that, he turned and walked away with Aria.
Jason's eyes widened in realization. "Are you...?"
But Nathan didn’t answer, guiding Aria to the car and buckling her in.
As they drove home, Aria reach out to wiped her tears.
"Honey, don't touch it," Nathan said, just as the traffic light turned red. He pulled out a tissue and gently wiped away the remaining tears on Aria's face, his expression earnest. "If you rub it, it might get inflamed."
"Nathan, are you...?"
Nathan laughed. "Of course not. If I were, I would have married you the moment we met."
"That‘s true," Aria admitted, thinking of how strange Jason had seemed in this life.That's why she found this world's Jason somewhat odd.
