When Aria moved into her new home, Nathan’s parents—now also her parents—came to visit and took them out for a nice meal.
“Wow, I really love this house,” she said, pressing herself against the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the view.
The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over everything outside.
Nathan came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her and whispering softly in her ear, “I’m glad you like it.”
Was it her imagination, or did Nathan’s voice sound extra magnetic, making her a little infatuated?
“How did you find this place?” Aria asked, pushing aside her thoughts.
“A friend recommended it. The original buyer, a wealthy businessman, backed out due to bankruptcy, so I got it at a good price,” Nathan explained gently.
“Wow, you really got lucky,” Aria agreed, nodding.
Nathan didn’t have much money at the moment. She remembered overhearing once that their old house had cost him all his savings, and it was just an average place. This new house was much bigger and had such a beautiful view. He must have had a stroke of luck to afford it now.
“It’s really a bargain for you,” Nathan added.
“What? Why for me?” Aria asked, puzzled.
“Because the house is in your name.”
“What?” Aria was shocked and turned around quickly. “Why didn’t I know?”
“It’s not a big deal,” Nathan said nonchalantly.
“Not a big deal? Do Mom and Dad know?” Aria asked, concerned.
“Yes, they agree,” Nathan nodded.
Aria didn’t know what to say. She was momentarily silent, then turned her attention back to the sunset, feeling a bit restless. “So if we get divorced in the future, at least I won’t have wasted my youth. I’ll have this big house,” she joked.
Nathan turned her around and gently bit her nose. “No talking about divorce! I’ll never divorce you.”
Tears welled up in Aria’s eyes from the bite. “Why did you bite so hard?”
“Because you’re not listening,” Nathan said.
“Maybe you’ll find someone prettier than me someday. There were many out there.” Aria muttered.
Nathan immediately picked her up in a bridal carry, glaring at her. “Too bad, the girl I like is already thinking about who I might like next.”
Aria was suddenly scooped up into Nathan's arms in a princess carry. “Ah! What are you doing?” Aria clung to Nathan’s neck, startled.
Nathan carried her towards the bedroom, his breathing becoming heavier. The thought of finally doing what he had only dreamed about made his skin tingle with anticipation.
“Nathan! It’s still daytime!” Aria realized what Nathan intended, her voice full of panic.
Nathan gently placed her on the bed, then moved to the window and drew the curtains, plunging the room into darkness.
“It’s okay, now it’s night.”
