“Not mad anymore?” Nathan savored the lingering sensation of the kiss, feeling incredibly content.
Aria nodded, her lips curving into a high pout.
In their past life, she hadn’t had the chance to tease him. In this life, she planned to make up for it.
“Not mad? Then let’s get something to eat. Are you hungry?” Nathan held Aria’s hand, placing it in his pocket.
“Not too hungry.”
“Well, we should still eat something.”
Since they left the hotel, he had noticed Aria hadn’t eaten much. After a movie, she might get hungry later.
“Okay,” Aria agreed.
But before they could hail a cab, Aria’s phone rang. It was her mother.
“Mom, where are you? It’s so noisy,” Aria said, holding the phone away from her ear to avoid the loud background noise.
“We’re at a dance party. We might not come back tonight. You can go home or not, it’s up to you,” Mrs. Lawson said cheerfully.
Aria’s mouth twitched, but she still reminded her mother, “Mom, you remember I’m your daughter, right? A young woman who just graduated, out alone at night. It’s dangerous out here.”
She internally screamed about how her mother wasn’t worried about her safety at all. Was she even her biological mother?
Ever since her past life, she doubted it.
“As a mother of a girl who can eat two Big Macs, three servings of fries, and a soft drink, I’m not worried about you,” Mrs. Lawson said nonchalantly.
Aria felt a pang in her heart.
But Mrs. Lawson continued seriously, “Isn’t my son-in-law with you now?”
“Mom, you’re calling him your son-in-law now…” Aria glanced at Nathan, standing nonchalantly beside her, then said, “We are not married.”
“You’re getting married soon anyway. Alright, got to go. Your mother-in-law is calling me. Bye.” Mrs. Lawson hung up.
Aria, staring at her now-dark phone screen, was at a loss for words.
“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you before we get married,” Nathan said casually.
Aria’s face stiffened, and she forced a laugh, “Let’s go eat.”
Seeing her reaction, Nathan’s eyes twinkled. He held Aria’s hand and continued walking.
Without a car, they hailed a cab.
When they arrived at a fancy restaurant, Aria tugged on Nathan’s sleeve.
“We don’t need to eat somewhere this expensive.”
Nathan wasn’t making money yet, so she didn’t want to waste money.
“Don’t worry, we’re not paying. We have a host,” Nathan said nonchalantly.
Huh?
“A host? Who?” she asked out of habit.
Nathan’s circle was small, so she knew most of his friends.
But she forgot she hadn’t met Nathan’s friends in this life yet.
“Your future brother-in-law,” Nathan replied coolly.
Pfft... Aria almost burst out laughing.
Realizing it must be her future brother-in-law, who had the means to casually invite them to such a place, she felt relieved and a bit amused.
