Chapter 12

　　Mrs. Lawson didn’t believe her daughter and moved to pull Aria over.
　　Nathan wasn’t about to let his future mother-in-law bully his future wife.
　　He stood in front of Aria, his eyes sincere. “Mrs. Lawson, I was just teasing her. We’ll go get the marriage certificate tomorrow. You don’t have to worry.”
　　Nathan spoke politely, the picture of a perfect son-in-law.
　　Aria ground her teeth. This guy sure knew how to please people.
　　Mrs. Lawson, hearing his words, quickly collected herself, smiling as she grabbed Nathan’s hand.
　　Nathan, uncomfortable with the touch of strangers, subtly withdrew his hand and instead held Aria’s.
　　Mrs. Lawson didn’t mind at all. In fact, seeing the young couple holding hands made her face light up.
　　At this point, Mrs. Harrison stepped in to smooth things over. She pulled Mrs. Lawson aside with a smile, “Young couples need to have their little spats. Let’s leave them to it. We should head out ourselves.”
　　Aria noticed that the four adults were indeed dressed and ready to go. Even the usually stern Mr. Harrison was smiling, clearly pleased.
　　Mr. Lawson, initially nervous about interacting with the mayor, had started to relax. He found that Mr. Harrison was quite approachable and even praised his daughter, making him feel more at ease.
　　Aria was unaware that her decisions were influencing those around her. In her past life, her dissatisfaction with the marriage, coupled with her crush’s wedding, had led her to agree reluctantly. This dissatisfaction had been palpable to Mr. Lawson, leading to his prolonged resentment towards Nathan’s family.
　　Now, with Aria showing no signs of reluctance and leaning on Nathan, it had a positive ripple effect.
　　“Mom, Dad, Mr and Mrs.  Harrison, are you all going somewhere?” Aria asked.
　　Mrs. Harrison explained, “We don’t want to be in your way. We four are going out for a walk. You two can do as you please.”
　　Aria wasn’t sure what to make of the last part.
　　Nathan, however, calmly added, “Didn’t Leonard say he’d be here soon? If we all leave, what about him?”
　　Leonard was Nathan’s brother, the famous actor. He was usually very busy but sometimes spent a lot of time at home.
　　Aria realized she had forgotten about him.
　　Seeing Aria’s puzzled look, Nathan leaned in and whispered, “Leonard is my younger brother. He wanted to meet his future sister-in-law, but his schedule didn’t allow it. Don’t worry, you’ll meet him soon.”
　　Aria was a bit puzzled. Why would she need to worry? But she nodded and whispered back, “Got it.”
　　Nathan, smelling the light fragrance from Aria, was captivated, but her lack of response towards him made his eyes darken slightly. He felt the need to make her feel as strongly for him as he did for her.
