“What do you mean by legitimate relationship?” Aria was a bit confused. She felt that Nathan had changed in this life, not as adorable as before.
But now she was still within Nathan’s embrace, feeling the warmth of his breath close to her skin.
“Nathan, what is our current relationship? We’re not in a legitimate relationship yet, I’m not even your girlfriend.” Aria pushed him slightly.
Nathan stopped at her words.
His heart felt a slight pang of annoyance, but Aria’s words were true.
He hadn’t really thought about the boyfriend-girlfriend stage; he was just thinking about them getting the marriage certificate and becoming a legal couple.
“Do you need that kind of relationship?” Nathan asked softly.
Aria didn’t know how to answer.
Did she need it?
Aria had never experienced it. In her past life, just like now, she only had a crush on someone and had never dated anyone before marrying Nathan.
After marriage, everything she did with Nathan felt like it was because the duty as his wife, so she had no reason to refuse.
Everything just happened naturally.
The words she said just now were partly because Nathan’s sudden physical reaction had scared her, so she blurted them out.
Now, Nathan was seriously asking if she needed that kind of relationship?
It seemed like if she said she needed it, Nathan would fulfill her wish.
For some reason, the thought made Aria feel a bit excited.
What would it be like if Nathan courted her?
She was curious.
Nathan, holding Aria and seeing the anticipation in her eyes, twitched his lips but said nothing more.
But Aria nodded vigorously, “I think getting married too quickly is risky. Flash marriages often lead to flash divorces. For the sake of a long-term relationship, we should date first and then make it official.”
Nathan didn’t latch onto the dating part; he fixated on the flash divorce part.
His eyes grew cold, and his possessiveness intensified.
He pulled Aria closer and said firmly, “You will never think about flash divorces in this lifetime. If you do, I might do something to hurt you.”
Now, Nathan no longer had the initial aloofness from their first meeting. Instead, he had an intense possessiveness towards Aria.
In this lifetime, Aria would never escape his grasp.
Aria was startled by Nathan’s reaction.
She had just been joking.
She hadn’t expected Nathan to take it seriously.
But this was only their second meeting. Why was Nathan so invested in her already?
Unable to hold back, Aria asked, “Nathan, isn’t this only our second meeting? Why are you so…” She paused, searching for the right word, “Are you in love with me at first sight?”
Saying it out loud, Aria thought it might be possible.
Could it be that this man already liked her?
Aria indulged in this fantasy for a moment.
Nathan didn’t make her wait long for an answer. He nodded slightly, “I might have fallen for you at first sight.”
Not entirely true, but he couldn’t explain why he was so serious about Aria after just two meetings.
Chapter 11
Aria’s heart trembled at Nathan’s response. It felt unreal, but his peculiar confession made her a bit uncomfortable.
“You investigated all my information. What love at first sight? I think you’ve been planning this.” Aria lowered her head, her voice soft.
Nathan chuckled, the vibration in his chest making Aria tremble. She could hear his heartbeat, faster than hers.
“Investigating is different from meeting in person.”
“Oh? How so?”
Nathan pondered for a moment, then continued, “For example, your personality is more cheerful, your appearance more beautiful, your figure better. You’re very suitable to be my wife, right?”
Aria listened to this string of compliments and remembered their first meeting. She had tried to make Nathan uncomfortable, but now he was using her own words against her.
Hearing the teasing tone in his voice, Aria huffed, breaking free from his embrace.
“Now you realize my good points? Isn’t it too late?” She glanced at him, then looked away.
“It’s not too late. We’re about to get the marriage certificate, aren’t we? I’ll have plenty of time to discover more of your good points.” Nathan shook his head earnestly.
“Who said I’m getting the certificate with you! I just gave you a chance to pursue me.” Aria glared at him.
“Getting married first, then pursuing is the same.”
Nathan wasn’t really planning to court her formally. What if something happened, like her dangerous crush making her change her mind?
Aria was at a loss for words. She hadn’t realized Nathan could be so cunning.
“Hmph, I won’t get the certificate with you.” Aria refused.
She was expecting Nathan to beg.
But after a few minutes, instead of Nathan begging, her mother’s authoritative voice rang out.
“You brat! What do you mean you won’t get the certificate? You’ve already taken advantage of him and now want to walk away?” Mrs. Lawson’s face was red with anger.
She had followed the future in-laws out and overheard her daughter’s words, making her furious.
But the future in-laws didn’t seem to care about not getting the certificate; they were more concerned about the advantage-taking part.
They looked at their son in surprise, not believing that Aria would be the one taking advantage.
They couldn’t imagine their usually serious son behaving like that.
Aria, now in trouble, covered her ears and protested loudly, “Mom, when did I take advantage of Nathan? You can't blame me without proof! Your daughter is still innocent!”
“Innocent? Innocent girls don’t call out his names in the morning or hug him tightly at the restroom door!” Mrs. Lawson didn’t believe her.
Aria escaped her mother’s grasp, hiding behind Nathan.
“Mom! Am I really your daughter? How am I supposed to face people after this!” Aria clung to Nathan as a shield, letting out a sigh of relif as she looked around to find no one else was there.
Otherwise, she would be too embarrassed to face anyone!
“Mom, why do you always think the worst of me? I was just joking. You could ask him if I did anything wrong to him!” Aria pushed Nathan forward.
It was all his fault for making her look bad!
