Aria was quite confident in her appearance. Though she didn't do much in her past life, she did gain a bit of experience with makeup. Now, walking among the girls with no makeup on this street, Aria's appearance attracted quite a few glances from men.
She flicked her hair and glanced at her mother, raising her eyebrows, "Mom, don't I look particularly good today?"
"Act normal, people are staring at you." Mrs. Lawson felt a bit embarrassed and lowered her head.
Aria then realized that everyone in the room was looking at her, especially Mrs. Harrison, who smiled kindly at her.
Mr. Harrison awkwardly cleared his throat.
Next to him, Nathan was resting his chin on his hand, staring at her intently.
Her own father had moved a bit away from her.
Aria suddenly had a moment of amnesia, wondering how she went from thinking about her makeup to dining with her future father-in-law, the city mayor, and her future mother-in-law, a renowned actress.
Her mind went blank for a moment.
She quickly stood up, "I need to step out for a moment, I'll be right back."
Aria hurried out, and Nathan, seeing her leave, also got up, "I need to step out too."
That left the adults in the room. Mrs. Lawson found her dancing buddy and started chatting, while Mr. Lawson, feeling nervous in front of the mayor, stammered until Mr. Harrison reassured him it was just a family meeting, putting him at ease.
Meanwhile, Aria stood in front of a mirror, looking at her made-up face, her mind spinning.
She finally recalled how she, along with her parents, had arrived at the hotel and met the waiting Harrison family.
She composed herself, sighed, and turned around.
But as soon as she turned, she bumped into a solid chest. Thinking she had hit someone, she quickly bowed her head and apologized.
"Ugly as sin and still thinks she's a beauty," a cool voice sounded above her.
Aria recognized the familiar, uniquely masculine voice.
She looked up sharply to see Nathan standing in front of her, his eyes gazing at her indifferently.
"What are you doing here?" Aria looked around, confused, "This is the ladies' room, Are you cra...?" She gasped, her eyes wide with shock, as if she had discovered something major.
Nathan found Aria’s reaction odd but, being smart, he gently flicked her forehead, "What are you thinking? I saw no one around and came in to check who was wailing."
Wailing?
Aria realized she might have been too loud. Nathan might have been worried, so he came into the ladies' room.
She habitually threw herself onto Nathan, who, caught off guard by her sudden intimate gesture and uncommon strength for a girl, stumbled backward a step.
He steadied them both by holding her waist.
Aria nestled against Nathan's chest, "I knew you were the best, hubby."
This gesture and the way she spoke were Aria's usual methods of being coquettish in their past life.
In their past life, Nathan would have looked at her with eyes full of affection, but in this life, he was stiff, especially at the word "hubby," which deeply affected him.
