Spencer glanced around but failed to spot Aria. Immediately, he dialed Asher's number. "I'll send Ethan directly overseas, but it seems I'm a step too late. I couldn't find Aria."
"Alright, noted," came the indifferent reply from the other end. Spencer didn't elaborate further and hung up the call.
Granting Ethan a chance to live was already giving some respect to their shared father. He would never give Ethan an opportunity to turn his life around.
He wasn't foolish. If Ethan managed to regain power, would there be any path left for him? The current situation allowed for survival of only one of them!
Therefore, he would send Ethan as far away as possible, ensuring he never set foot in front of him again.
Asher ended the call and pondered over Aria's matter. Sending her abroad seemed the most reassuring option. Otherwise, having her in A city felt like a ticking time bomb.
He set aside his work and decided to locate Spencer. However, his phone buzzed just then. It was Melanie calling. "Asher, I'm coming to your office!"
Melanie, bored at home and still exhilarated from the proposal yesterday, added, "I promise not to disturb you. I'll just watch from the side…"
"Alright," Asher chuckled in agreement.
He wouldn't reject her visit; she was his motivation, after all. He informed the receptionist to allow anyone looking for him inside.
Approximately fifteen minutes later, Asher heard footsteps and asked, "Why so soon?"
Instantly, he sensed something amiss and upon looking up, met Aria's gaze.
His brows furrowed. Why was it Aria? Yet, she had delivered herself to his doorstep. He messaged Spencer discreetly.
Aria, however, felt utterly dismissed. She sensed Asher's delight when she entered, but the moment he saw her, his expression turned icy cold.
Clenching her fists at her sides, she mustered courage and stepped forward. "Asher, I want you to break up with Melanie!" she declared her intention firmly.
Asher looked at Aria in astonishment. "Are you insane or just not awake yet?"
He adored Melanie so deeply, yet here she was, demanding he end things with her. What right did she have to stand here and speak to him?
"Get out!" he snapped coldly.
Aria remained steadfast. "Asher, I know you love Melanie, but if you don't want her to discover your true self, listen to me and break up with her! Otherwise, I'll tell Melanie exactly what kind of person you are!"
Asher was being threatened, by Aria no less. He found it amusing. Rising from his chair, he allowed his frigid aura to fill the entire office, exerting a powerful pressure that emphasized Aria's vulnerability.
She recoiled, stepping back despite knowing Asher wouldn't let her off. His reaction, however, confirmed that she had struck a nerve! Otherwise, Asher wouldn't behave so differently depending on the audience.
Her teeth chattered, but she persisted, "Asher, you're not as pure as you pretend to be. You're cunning and cruel, too afraid to let Melanie see this side of you! She's naive, sheltered within the Snow family. Imagine if she learns your true nature, would she stay with you? Asher, break up with her, and I won't tell Melanie. Refuse, and she'll learn you're a devil!"
