She had never seen Ethan so ruthless before.
Perhaps out of fear, Aria spoke cautiously, "We can find another way... If not, we can look for another opportunity to make the Grant family recognize you... Ah—"
Aria watched in horror as Ethan started throwing things around. She shrunk back, unsure of what she had said wrong this time.
Ethan glared at her, his demeanor anything but normal. "Another opportunity? Do I even have one? Spencer came to me again, telling me to get out of A City, to never show my face in his territory again! But why? We both bear the name Grant, so why does he get everything? I refuse to accept this!"
Aria lowered her head, echoing his resentment. "I refuse to accept it too. Why does Melanie get to have it all?" Melanie had the Snow family and would soon have Asher too!
Asher treated Melanie with such gentleness. And what about her? She thought Ethan was gentle too, yet he had also resorted to violence against her.
Her eyes narrowed, reflecting a vicious glint. No, she wouldn't let Melanie live such a blissful life!
"Ethan, as long as we're alive, we'll have a chance to turn things around, don't you agree?" Aria lifted her head, smiling sweetly at him.
Ethan seemed to understand the dark, sinister undertones of her smile. "Yes."
In truth, they were both cut from the same cloth, which was why they became lovers in the first place...
Asher brought Melanie to his company. Melanie had always wanted to ask why he had changed his mind about establishing the company in B City and instead moved it to A City.
The location of the company mattered a great deal, making this a significant decision. She planned to find an opportune moment to inquire about his thoughts.
Asher led Melanie upstairs. "This floor belongs to our company."
Melanie nodded, scanning the area and then furrowing her brow. "Asher, haven't you hired anyone for the company?"
Why was this floor empty?
Confused, she frowned.
Before she could receive an answer, she turned around to find Asher gone.
Melanie was bewildered. "? ??"
She stood rooted to the spot, spinning around in confusion.
Was this a dream?
Or did Asher have an urgent matter to attend to?
Melanie moved slowly when her phone beeped with a message from Asher: "Don't be afraid, follow the instructions."
"? ?? Instructions?"
Melanie looked around and eventually spotted a white sign that read: ["Turn left five meters ahead."]
Melanie, "...Oh, I get it, we're playing a game!"
She decided to participate enthusiastically.
Following the clues, Melanie quickly arrived at an office. Judging by the decor, it had to be Asher's.
"Asher?" she ventured a call.
She was utterly puzzled by his intentions.
Then, soft music began to play, and colorful balloons floated in from nowhere. Melanie faintly heard footsteps and turned to see Asher, dressed in a black suit, approaching her slowly, a bouquet of white roses in his hands.
She froze, watching as Asher drew closer.
Until he stood right before her, dropping to one knee.
"Melanie, my career is just starting, and I have nothing to offer. Right now, I can't give you much, maybe only whispers of love in your ear, care in daily life, attention to detail.
I won't promise what I'll give you in the future, but I want you to know that from now on, my future is intertwined with yours.
So, will you marry me?"
He hadn't intended to propose so soon.
But he sensed it—she liked him too.
