She had been in the Snow family for so long, and it had taken considerable effort to finally stumble upon an opportunity. Moreover, Ethan urgently needed her to succeed.
Without hesitation, Aria exited the bedroom and headed straight for the study. Her eyes immediately fell upon Leonard's frequently used computer and the stack of paper documents beside it.
She almost wanted to thank Vivienne for this; since Vivienne disliked Leonard working in their bedroom, the study had become his secondary office, where he often attended to business matters.
If not for Vivienne's preference, Aria might still be wrangling with Leonard at this moment.
With a clear target in mind, Aria swiftly located what she sought and even made an unexpected discovery.
Hastily, she forwarded the files from the computer to her phone and proceeded to photograph the physical documents.
Perhaps due to her inexperience in such activities, her movements were somewhat clumsy. At one point, she accidentally knocked over some papers, which scattered on the floor.
She bent down to retrieve them, continuing her photography task with intense focus.
Once finished, Aria tucked her phone away, neatly rearranged the documents, exhaled deeply, and prepared to leave.
However, as she opened the door to the study, she froze in place. Leonard, who should have been resting in bed, stood at the entrance, accompanied not only by Vivienne, who had supposedly gone out for medicine, but also by Melanie and Asher, who had left earlier.
Aria's expression drastically shifted. At this moment, everything became crystal clear.
Had she been set up?
Aria opened her mouth, but no words came out. She had no grounds for defense.
Disappointment clouded Leonard's face. "Aria, how could you do this?"
Aria swiftly regained her composure, looking at Leonard in confusion. "What are you talking about? I don't understand. I just thought Uncle might keep medicine in the study since you work here often, so I came to check, that's all."
Vivienne scoffed, her disdain evident. "Even at a time like this, you still try to lie? Your family truly are a despicable bunch."
Aria clung to a desperate hope. "Why would I lie? That's the truth! Auntie, Have you gone to pick up medicine for Uncle's stomach pain? Did you get it?"
Vivienne advanced toward Aria, who could only retreat back into the study. Pointing at the documents, Vivienne said, "The truth? You're still trying to talk your way out of it, aren't you? Would you dare show us your phone?"
Aria was speechless.
Her mind raced, searching for an escape route, but she found none. The evidence against her, their synchronized appearance at the study door – it all clicked.
"You set me up!"
It was clearly a premeditated scheme!
Vivienne was almost amused by the audacity. "Set you up? Aria, you need to understand, it is you who plotted against the Snow family! If we hadn’t caught you here, wouldn't you have handed over all the obtained information to Ethan? Allowing the Grant family subsidiary to secure that project and bring ruin to the Snow family? The most ridiculous part is that you resorted to such underhanded tactics just to help Ethan, an illegitimate child, gain entry into the Grant family?"
Aria shuddered.
Did Vivienne know everything?
How was that possible? Only she and Ethan were privy to their plans.
Seeing Aria remain silent, Vivienne continued.
"Aria, Leonard has treated you generously, never expecting repayment, but surely you can't be this ungrateful? When you acted, did you not consider your conscience?" Vivienne genuinely felt it was unjust for Leonard, who had always regarded Aria as family, only to be so cruelly betrayed in the end.
