The sea swallowed the night, and the moonlight fell through a light mist.
Alone at the railing, Ryan took a deep breath: "Go ahead."
"I had someone check. After the graduation ceremony, Jasmine left the school first, Grace followed the next day."
"According to their travel schedules, there was no overlap, but there’s something strange."
"In early July, for three days, Grace and Jasmine’s whereabouts mysteriously disappeared together, with no records to be found."
"...Early July."
Ryan paused, suddenly recalling something,
"That day, we had another fight. I’m not a good brother, always making her unhappy."
He said this and then closed his eyes,
"Continue."
A pained expression appeared on Daniel's face: "Luckily, I have some friends abroad. I took a photo and had it investigated, and a worker at an international airport said they saw Grace and Jasmine together at the airport."
"I followed this lead and found out they went to a deserted beach that day... Anyway, Ryan, take a look."
He paused, hesitated for a moment, and handed over a creased photograph.
Ryan’s gaze fell upon it.
It was as if he was in the Arctic, his expression freezing instantly.
The photo showed an endless ocean with a dilapidated fishing boat on the water.
In the boat’s fishing net was a massive corpse, its features unrecognizable after being soaked by the sea.
The features of the face were indistinct.
However, faintly visible was a patch of skin behind the ear, marked with a bright red birthmark.
That was...My corpse.
"Brother."
I am merely a soul, yet tears still flow.
My vision remains shrouded, all blurred.
I whisper gently:"Don’t cry, brother."
"I never really hated you. I just loved you too much, not knowing how to handle it."
"Don't find me disgusting."
Finally, I've said it.
The unspeakable love I felt for him is dark, heavy, and terrifying.
But my brother cannot hear me.
He will never, ever hear my voice again.
