Chapter 26

　　Buoyed by his words, I dove into preparing for the college entrance exams, each day fueled with purpose. When I finally received my acceptance letter from my dream university, I rushed to find him.
　　Under the cover of nightfall, after he finished work, we celebrated on his rooftop with a barbecue. Despite his refusal to let me drink, I insisted. Downing half a can of beer for courage and pretending to be drunk, I made my second confession.
　　"Ethan, if you don't become my boyfriend, I might get swept away by another guy in college. Are you afraid?"
　　He extinguished his cigarette as I drew near, tilting his head back.
　　"Dare you try?"
　　"Well, do you like me or not?"
　　He grasped my wrist, and in a dizzying moment, I found myself sitting on his lap, heart pounding relentlessly.
　　"Are you sure about this?"
　　"You're going to college. Are you willing to be thousands of miles away from your boyfriend, hardly ever seeing each other?"
　　I had pined for him for so long. How could I not have thought this through?
　　"I don't care. I want you, I like you."
　　He chuckled against my shoulder, gently pinching my earlobe. "Your ears are so red. You are so cute."
　　"Stop it. Will you just...agree or not?"
　　Ethan leaned in, brushing his lips against mine. "I agree."
　　That kiss and those stars—memories etched in my heart forever. We took our first photo together.
