From then on, Evan didn't visit me again.
Mr. Harrison returned, and Evan's temporary duty ended. Our beds were all under Mr. Harrison's care.
Word had it that there was a series of car accidents that night, resulting in many injuries. It was also rumored that Evan had gone to another state for a medical exchange program.
By the time he returned, a severe fire broke out in the city. So many people were injured that they overwhelmed the hospital.
Later, I heard he was sent abroad for further studies. He was perpetually busy.
The bed next to mine saw a rotation of patients coming and going.
Once I could get out of bed, I diligently underwent rehabilitation training.
I was determined to stand again, to live like a normal person.
No matter how excruciating the rehabilitation is, I gritted my teeth and persevered alongside other patients in that therapy room.
Naturally, during this period, I became a laughingstock among my former social circle: the once proud and aloof peacock, bedridden from a car accident, unable to care for herself, reliant on others for everything.
We were all medical students at A University. However, during my internship year, I injured my finger, preventing me from becoming a surgeon, leading me to abandon the profession.
Several of my former classmates joined this hospital.
Yet, no one pitied me. Instead, they deemed it what I deserved. After all, everyone believed it was I who forcefully drove Ivory away, sending her overseas.
