Chapter 2

　　My awakening soon reached the doctors' attention. They came to examine me, confirming that my return to consciousness was indeed a positive development. 
　　However, amidst the sea of white coats, Evan's figure was conspicuously absent. In my unconscious state, his voice had not graced my ears, and now, awake, he failed to materialize.
　　"Where's Evan?" I inquired.
　　The doctors exchanged glances, an unspoken understanding passing between them.
　　"Dr. Smith... He's in surgery and can't get away right now," one explained.
　　"Oh," I replied, my voice cold.
　　"How is my body doing?" I continued.
　　"You hit your head during the car accident, causing significant bruising in your brain, which led to your coma. Additionally, you have a fractured right hand and a severe fracture in your left thigh, along with other fractures and soft tissue injuries. To summarize, your injuries were severe. You've been asleep for forty days, but fortunately, due to timely hospitalization, the accumulated blood in your brain has gradually been absorbed, surgeries have been performed on your fractures, and casts have been applied. You're slowly getting better."
