"Why have we stopped?"
Xander frowned unhappily and looked at the driver.
He had drunk a bit too much that evening, was suffering from a severe headache, and was in a terrible mood.
The driver glanced outside, hesitated, trying to say something, but Serena quickly interrupted.
"It's just someone irrelevant, keep driving."
The driver looked at Xander through the rearview mirror.
Xander, leaning back in his seat, his eyes dark and his expression filled with his usual world-weariness and impatience, did not stop Serena.
The driver, saying nothing further, resumed driving slowly.
I stood by the roadside, watching the car pass by.
It moved slowly, the rear window lowering a third of the way.
In the dim light, I could see Serena's delicate and beautiful face and, for a brief moment, Xander's profile beside her.
Serena's gaze swept over me, indifferent and haughty, dismissing me without needing a word, a gesture, or an expression. Such is the aura of the main character.
When Xander was injured, it must have been Serena by his side.
Naturally, having always favored Serena, he would choose to marry her once he recovered.
The Maybach entered the gate, and the light from its tail lights slowly faded away. I turned listlessly and walked deeper into the night.
