When Jasmine was ten months old, she stopped breastfeeding.
At one and a half years old, I returned to New York once.
A college roommate, who had once bought me breakfast for an entire semester, was getting married.
She wanted me at her wedding, and I couldn't refuse.
Over the years, I've faced much malice, but there were also those who treated me kindly and cared for me.However few.
I cherished them greatly. This trip back, I also secretly inquired about Xander's well-being.
His condition seemed off, and I was worried about his health.
The night the wedding ended, a friend called.
"That guy is supposedly getting married soon."
"The bride is that famous up-and-coming artist who just finished a tour."
"Thank you."
"By the way, why are you asking about him?"
"I'm not sure, just thank you for her."
After hanging up, it took me a long time to regain my composure.
Suddenly, a woman's surprised voice exclaimed from behind me: "Jenna? It is you!"
"I thought it looked like you from the back! Indeed!"
"But you've gained a little weight."
"And your chest has gotten bigger!"
"Annoying, it's like you've become even more attractive to men!"
The young woman, dressed like a beautiful Christmas tree, playfully stomped her foot.
I recognized her, one of the socialites who had once had tea with me and asked about Xander's prowess.
But I didn't want any interaction with people from the past, so I nodded politely and turned to leave.
Yvette, however, stopped me again: "It's been so long, where have you been these days?"
"Sorry, I'm busy…"
"Jenna, I heard..."
Yvette didn't listen to me, clinging to my arm excitedly gossiping: "Xander was nearly killed in a car accident back then, and you ran away with his money..."
"Is that true?"
"If it is, you've got some nerve coming back to New York!"
