Chapter 7

　　I approached Mommy and said loudly, "Mommy, I love you very much!"
　　But Mommy seemed not to hear me. Her eyes were closed. She did not move.
　　I gave Mommy a big kiss. She always said my kisses had magical powers.
　　Suddenly I smelled something very strange. It made me feel uncomfortable.
　　Mommy always smelled nice. Why would she smell like this?
　　I ran to the bathroom. I found Mommy's favorite shower gel. I wanted to wash her to make her smell nice again.
　　But the strange smell seemed to always come back. It made me very sad.
　　I sat on the floor. I couldn't help but start crying, "Mommy, please wake up."
　　My crying got worse. It started to thunder and rain outside.
　　I am really scared of thunder. But Mommy once told me to be brave and not be afraid.
　　I wanted to call Daddy. I wanted to tell him Mommy was very sick. But the phone wouldn't turn on.
　　I had charged it before. Why can't I turn it on?
　　I hid under the covers. I hoped Daddy would call me as he used to do during thunderstorms to comfort me.
　　Daddy always laughed and said I was a scaredy-cat. But I replied, "I am not scared at all!"
　　Then we would laugh a lot.
　　I waited and waited. The thunder and rain stopped. But Daddy's call never came.
　　All I could do was hold Mommy's pillow. I sat there, lost in thought.
