Chapter 5

　　I finished all the bread and had to feed on water only.
　　Still, I felt very hungry and Mommy did not wake up.
　　I thought maybe Mommy was sick. When I'm sick, I sleep a lot too. But I get better after taking the medicine Mommy gives me.
　　I found the medicine I take when sick. I tried to give some to Mommy. Her mouth was closed tight. It was hard but I managed to get the medicine in.
　　After that, I felt tired and sleepy. I lay down next to Mommy. I quickly fell asleep.
　　When I woke up, kindergarten was already over.
　　I sat on the balcony looking down. I saw Silas on his dad's shoulders. They looked happy.
　　Silas's mom had a big belly. Silas said she wasn't fat. She was pregnant with a little brother or sister.
　　I wished for a brother or sister too. Then we could play together.
　　Ms. Brooks once said to Mommy, I was three years old. It was time for another baby.
　　Mommy said love bounded by children is unstable.
　　What Ms. Brooks said made Mommy blush. Mommy covered my ears. But I didn't understand their talk.
　　Later, Mommy asked if I wanted a brother or sister. I nodded hard.
　　Mommy said, "Maybe then Luna won't be lonely."
　　Mommy told me she was an orphan. She was afraid of being alone. She told me a secret. She was very ill before she came to this world.
　　A god called the System helped her. If Daddy loved her, she could stay healthy.
　　"Does Daddy love you?" I asked Mommy.
　　Mommy was silent for a while. She said nothing.
