I was playing with my toys when suddenly, "beep beep beep," Mommy's phone rang.
I ran over to answer it. The ringing stopped suddenly because the phone was out of power.
I plugged in the phone, hoping for a callback. But it never rang again.
My stomach are growling. I decided to find some food. I opened the fridge and try to take a bag of bread on a stool
I also wanted the milk from the fridge. As I tried to grab it, the stool crashed down. I fell hard. It hurted a lot.
"Mommy, it hurts." I cried for Mommy, wanting a hug. But Mommy wouldn't wake up.
Mommy usually fears that I get hurt. But she had no reaction today.
Tired of crying, I curled up next to Mommy. I fell asleep without realizing it.
I dreamed Daddy came back. Waking up, I really heard Daddy's voice.
He didn't come inside. I heard him outside. "Luna didn't go to kindergarten. I came to check. Don't worry now. It might be like this after surgery. Ask the doctor. I'll be there soon."
Daddy sounded gentle. I've never heard him talk like that to Mommy and me.
"Daddy!" I couldn't help calling him. I ran to the door.
Daddy saw me and frowned. "Why aren't you dressed properly? Where's Mommy?"
I stood there and quietly said, "Mommy is sleeping."
He didn't check on Mommy. He just said coldly, "Ivy, you have three more days to think. The house and car are yours. Let's divorce quickly. It's better for us."
I heard a "thud" in the room. I thought Mommy woke up. But it was just the phone falling to the floor.
I wanted to tell Daddy that Mommy wouldn't wake up. But he was already gone.
I thought about using the elevator to find him. But Mommy said it's dangerous for kids to ride alone.
I didn't want to worry Mommy. I didn't want to see her cry. Whenever Mommy cries, she hides so I won't see.
I love seeing Mommy smile. She's beautiful when she smiles.
So I chose to stay by Mommy's side.
I lay next to Mommy. I watched the sunlight outside. I wondered when she would wake up. We could go to the park together.
