When I returned downstairs to Mrs John, I saw her burying her face in her palms. I thought she was weeping or something, but just as I cleared my throat she took her hands off her face and gave me a surprise look as if to ask where my aunt was. Anyways, I heaved a sigh and told her Aunt Vicky had possibly taking her medication and now she was deeply asleep hence she could come back some other time but if she really want to wait then she could do that but I didn't know exactly when she would wake-up. Probably not now. Hearing that, she reacted as if something hot and been poured on her body.
She stood her feet anxiously, "But I need to talk to her now, please can you just tell her to give me five minutes? I would be fast im explaining things to her" she urged me, however I had to turn her hands down because what she was asking was near to impossible. It wasn't as if I couldn't do it for her, I definitely could but I wouldn't the fact that I believed Aunt Vicky really need to rest. Plus, if I opt to wake her up she would be too weak to walk down the stairs even with my help. I would have to put extra help, and seriously I didn't have the energy for that at the moment. Infact, I would even be glad if Mrs John leaves so I could rest while I watch. "Okay, no problem. I will go and come back. Thank you!" she politely said and then left.
That was really great, I never actually thought she would be that calm. Well, nothing is impossible in this world. The last time she came, she had yelled at me to the extent I jolted like someone that received twelve volts barefoot on a rainy day from a pole wire. I had to remain silent for her to finish whatever she had to say, and seriously her warnings sank into my head and I vowed deep into my mind to stay as far as I could possibly do away from her husband even though I had never approaced him myself or initiated a conversation with me.
He was always the one trying to reach out to me and also trying to take advantage of me, and in normal circumstances he was the one that needed to be talked to. However, it seemed he was really okay. It seemed he was in his right sense. It seemed he was out of his mind or... I didn't really know what exactly to say the fact that I couldn't guess more. However, it was noticable that he exhibited a very strange behavior. Even doctor Ethan wouldn't do what he was doing. Of course Doctor Ethan was a crook and a pervert, but he had never been seen around trying to harass women. He chose his victim carefully through the opportunity he got and the deal they had.
How about Mr John? He didn't even care what people would say about his insane behavior, he just kept going around asking lonely women for their body. Anyways, the cops had got hold of him already and if care isn't taking he would have to face a life time sentence or a d.eath sentence, depending on what happened in the court. In as much as I hated him and didn't like his crazy behavior, I would be touched if he was sentenced to d.eath. I mean, why not just let him rot by spending the rest of his life in prison? That would be more preferable than ending his life. You know, if he's in the prison his children would be able to see him by paying him a visit. He could also have conjugal visits by his wife, Mrs John.
But if he's ex.ecuted, his family would no longer be able to see him again... not in this world. Wouldn't that be too painful for the little boys they had together? I wouldn't care much about what Mrs John would think the fact that she was an adult and would must likely get over the pain as life goes on but the kids plus she could marry another man again and fill the vacuum left by Mr John. However, the boys would never be able to have a father again except a step-father who might not treat them as good as they were used to being treated by their father. Well, whatever the case might be it would be up to them as I had no business with them. I continued watching television, and when it was time for lunch I went to the kitchen and began preparing it.
I brought out two packs of macaroni from the cabinets because that was what I had in mind today. And while chopping the vegetables to use for the meal, my phone began ringing. It was on the center table of the sitting room hence I walked there and picked it. After picking the call which was from an unknown number, I realized it was Trevor. The police officer. We greeted, and thus he apprised me that he met someone that looked exactly as my cousin, and I was like JESSICA? And he replied positively. Then I told him to describe her outfit for me, to which he did and believe you me he got everything right. But where he told me he saw her, I didn't really expect her to be there.
He said he saw her in a club at the Mainland together with two girls of her age, drinking and dancing to the tone of the beats I could hear in the background. But what was she really doing there? We had clubs here, what then took her to the Mainland? I was really surprised, I didn't really expected her to be there. And those two friends of hers, they could be Suzanna and Vivian. They were the rugged and would definitely do things no one could ever imagined. They were unpredictable too, just like she was. However, I was really sure. It could also be other friends of hers from the Mainland, of course she had friends I didn't know about just like I had friends she would never know about.
After the call, I returned back to the kitchen. Although before ending the call I told Trevor to please put an eye on her for me the fact that she could go wild and might end up in the hands of bad guys. Thankfully, he told me he had his eyes on her and would make sure no harm comes to her. I really liked the response, I thanked him wholeheartedly before ending the call. He was really kind, and it was obvious he still had his eyes on her. I mean, not just eyes... he had his mind too. The day he came to see her, I had seen it in his eyes too.
It was so clear he liked her, but nevertheless it all depends on her. If she kept showing no interest on him then, he might never be able to marry her. After the call, I continued cooking lunch until I was done. Just then, I heard knock by the door. I thought it was Mrs Smith but then I found Mrs John standing by the doorstep with her two sons standing right behind her. What exactly was going on? I wondered. Seriously, I didn't just know what was going on. Why was she back again, I thought I already made it clear to her that Aunt Vicky wouldn't be waking up anytime soon the fact that she needed enough time to rest.
But here she was, back in an hour or less. What exactly should I even tell her. I gulped, and just as I was about to clear my throat and tell her Aunt Vicky was still asleep, she extended an envelope to me and then opened her mouth and told me to please handover the envelope to my aunt, and that it contained a broad letter. I thought that was it, hence after collecting the letter I back down about going back inside. But just then, she told me to please take her boys in. And I was like, WHAT? YOUR WHAT? BOYS? I was really surprised, I never imagined she would ever say that.
"I know you are confused, Laura, but please just take them in. I have written everything your Aunt needs to know about this in that envelope, give it to her when she wakes up. I believe she will understand what's going on and will be keen to help me" she said, but still I was skeptical about welcoming the two boys in. "Laura, I know you hate me. I know you don't like me. You have every reason to hate me but look, I only did what I had to do. And I explained everything to your Aunt in that letter. It was never my intention to intimidate you or any other person in the neighborhood, but I found myself in a critical situation which left me with no other choice but to do all that I did. You can hate, you can always do but please for the sake of God, help these kids. They know nothing. Just take them in, and whenever your aunt wakes you please hand over that envelope to her. The letter inside contained detailed information about everything she needs to know. please, Laura."
Her words touched my heart, and without wasting much time thinking I decided to welcome the kids in. Hence, she began thanking me like I had just given her a lump sum of money. The boys didn't look comfortable when I told them to enter though, hence she talked to them and convinced them that she would be back as soon as possible. She also promised to talk to them via phone anytime. Her last statement made me to wonder where exactly she was going to, as if she was biding them farewell. And talking about checking on them through phone, whose phone exactly? It wasn't as if the kids had phone. I just couldn't stop thinking about what she said, something was telling me she was embarking on a long haul journey. But whatever they case may be, she had wrote Aunt Vicky. Hopefully though, Aunt Vicky would understand as she presumed.
But if Aunt Vicky didn't, then definitely the two boys would be taking to the cops to keep them under their special care or take them straight to the orphanage. As soon as she left, I shut the door off and then turned to the poor kids. They were busy looking around the house, it was their first time you know? I could remember being new here too, I looked around almost every corner of the sitting room, and looked forward to the dining, kitchen, and then when we headed upstairs I was amazed by my room as well while Aunt Vicky was decorating it for me. I quickly asked the boys to sit down before heading back to the kitchen.
They did as instructed, they sat on the couch and began watching the television that I left on and active. Seeing how interested they were on the television, I told them to use the remote to change to the channel or television stations they like. They were so happy to hear that, the eldest held the remote and before I knew it they had discovered a cartoon network and were already watching and enjoying it. When I was done cooking, I fetched Aunt Vicky hers and then went upstairs to take it to her together with the envelope giving to me by Mrs John. When I arrived in her room, I saw her coming out of the bathroom while using the wall as her guide. Her regs were pretty much better than they were the day prior.
